"Fuck you talkin’ ‘bout, Jere? I ain’t on drugs. Wha’chou think? You think I’m strung out or somethin’? Only thing I’ve ever been strung out on is music. Don’t believe everything you read, kid."

King Dick

a boss new play

Synopsis:

Christmastime, 1970.
The Manson trial’s on every TV. Mercury’s in retrograde.
And Elvis Presley has fucking had it.

He’s blown through a hundred grand on holiday gifts, ghosted Graceland in a cape, and is cruising the highways of America—high on Demerol, liquid Ritalin, and divine purpose. His mission? March into the White House and offer Richard Nixon his star power… in exchange for a badge from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

But Elvis isn’t alone.

He’s got backup—from his long-dead twin brother, Jesse.

Together, they hatch a fever dream plan to save the country, purify rock and roll, and claim a new symbol of American authority: a federal badge and a seat at the big boy table.

Will Dick say yes?
Will the King be deputized?

Or will the whole thing crash in a blaze of rhinestones, pills, and paranoid power plays?

One thing’s for sure:
This was the last time anyone ever cold-called the President of the United States.
